Shirley – 22/07/11 and 23/07/11

Just a few more to add this time as the ‘south’ half of the road is proving a little more difficult.

Alan was waiting at a bus stop when I took his photo – he drives the familiar #6 which runs along the project section of the Stratford Road and connects Birmingham to Solihull. Despite having a London accent he’s been in Birmingham since ’61 and explained why the fleet swapped to single-deckers a few years ago; to stop youths causing problems upstairs. So now you know which bus routes are rough ones! [-38]

Hannah and Mat (below) were out in Shirley with their happy dog, Jas. Hannah had just finished a degree and was due to start a new job soon while… [-271]

Mat works in optics and mentioned Hannah (above) is also a bit of a photographer. [-271]

Ronald and Janet (below) worked in Birmingham for 26 years before retiring but are originally from Scotland. One reason they decided to stay in Solihull after work was because of the good transport links to the other cities in which their friends and family are based. [-266]

Janet, whilst originally from Scotland now volunteers at a local community centre but was out choosing finishing touches for a new bathroom with her partner Ronald (above). [-266]
